Presence - Authenticity without burning out.
Much of the time we live in our head and are not present to ourselves or others. Presence is metaphysical and a way of be-ing with ourselves and others. It is the art of interiority and silence within. Conscious awareness, openness, listening, and 'unknowing' is the first step. This is where we uncover our deeper, true, authentic and creative self, beyond our thoughts and feelings.
The present moment contains all we need to be happy.
- Fr. Thomas Keating
Nature's candle of stillness.
We are shaped by our experiences interpreted through the lens of our beliefs and values, much of which has been conditioned. Just as our timeline of goals to be achieved is usually mapped from cultural expectations: finish college, find a well-paying job, get married, buy a house, have children, be productive. The way we interact can also be tainted, other times corrupted, by our very basic survival instinct to automatically react, take offence, personalize, defend, rather than thoughtfully respond. The pure essence we were born with gets lost as we start to conform to fit in, giving way to developing a self that unknowingly is false, based on 'fear of rejection', instead of authentically, we tend to act more in ways to gain external validation and avoid conflict. Thus, we travel along the much easier seen, well-trodden path previously worn down by others who went before us, until we realize that each person's journey is unique, making the path ahead ours to forge.
Interchange Coaching assists by unravelling:
1. Who you are?
2. Going deeper? Observing, suspending judgement, detaching from outcomes.
3. Being present through conscious awareness - allowing what is truly trying to emerge during personal conversations and in professional situations.
As we surrender to uncertainty, ambiguity, letting go of control, we curiously discover new perspectives, creativity, peace, and a well-spring of creativity and goodness within.
